Drug Uses
Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant, used for treatment and relief of pain, spasms and increased muscle tone caused by medical problems such as multiple sclerosis or spinal injury. Zanaflex may also be prescribed for other uses.

How Taken
Zanaflex comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Follow your doctor`s. Generally Zanaflex is taken 2–3 times a day. Do not take more or less of it or for a longer period than prescribed by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions
You may need dosage adjustment, special monitoring or you may not be able to take Zanaflex at all if you have– liver, kidney or heart disease, low blood pressure or you are receiving treatment of high blood pressure or taking oral contraceptives. This drug is in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Also it is not known not known if Zanaflex passes through breast milk. Therefore, do not use Zanaflex without your doctor`s approval if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding.

Missed Dose
If you are prescribed several doses a day, take the Missed Dose as soon as you remember. The remaining doses of that day should be taken at even time periods. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up the dose to make up for the missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– dizziness, upset stomach, vomiting, tingling sensation in the arms, legs, hands, and feet, dry mouth, increased muscle spasms, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unexplained flu like symptoms. If you experience any of these or any other side effects, contact your doctor promptly.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature between15–30°C (59–86°F). Keep away from children and excess heat, light and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Overdose
If overdose id suspected seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of Zanaflex overdose are not known well but include unconsciousness and irregular breathing.

More Information
Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Be careful when taking alcohol during your treatment. It may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Zanaflex. It is more likely to feel dizzy or lose conscious when getting up from sitting or lying position. Try getting up slowly, if that does not help and the problem continues you should notify your doctor. Consult your doctor if you are taking other medication, especially muscle relaxants, sleep or anxiety medicines, and pain medicines.
