Drug Uses
Acomplia is used for weight loss, may also be used for treatment of overweight patients who suffer from Type 2 diabetes and abnormal fat levels in the blood. It works by blocking specific receptors in the brain and fat tissues called CB1 receptors. Use Acomplia together with a reduced calorie diet and exercise. Acomplia also improves cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

How taken
Use Acomplia as directed by your doctor. Generally Acomplia is taken, one 20mg tablet a day before breakfast.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Acomplia, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Acomplia, if you have impaired liver, have severely impaired renal function, If you are currently being treated for epilepsy. Acomplia include lactose, so if you are intolerant to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Do not take Acomplia if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. Some medicines may interact with Acomplia. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Changes in dietary habits and increased exercise are important parts of a successful weight loss program. To maintain your ideal weight, these changes should be continued for life. Follow the guidelines given to you by your doctor or diet counselor. Lab tests, such as blood pressure, pulse monitoring, and weight monitoring, may be performed to monitor your progress or to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. It is not recommended to use Acomplia in children and adolescents. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed.

Missed dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible side effects
Some of the possible side effects are– nausea and upper respiratory tract infection, trouble with sleeping, irritability, dizziness, diarrhea, and fatigue. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately– allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), agitation, anxiety, confusion, depression, difficulty breathing, disorientation, fast or irregular heartbeat; high fever, increased sweating, seizures, unusual bruising or bleeding, upset stomach, vomiting, muscle cramps or spasm.

Storage
Store Acomplia at 77 °F (25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Acomplia out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately.

Acomplia has been found to stop both food and cigarette cravings enough to help people quit smoking and lose weight, and could also help control other unhealthy urges. If taken at the recommended dose, Acomplia is not expected to reduce your ability to drive Use Acomplia with caution until you know how you react to this drug. Acomplia should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
